Meleagris
Fritillaria Meleagris is often called 'The snake's head' Fritillaria. unlike its bigger cousins the crown imperials, it likes quite moist soil, it even grows on the edge of streams in part shade. the flowers are normally a rich purple-burgundy criss-cross patan over a white base, some with flower pure white but this only normally about 1 in 10. the flowers are held down, looking a bit like an old-fashioned lantern.
We are planning to start shipping bulbs in late September -early October.
