Dutch Iris grows from a bulb and likes a nice free-draining soil or compost in the sun or part shade. When established they will make good-size clumps, but only if you have not been tempted to pick them for the house!

We have stopped doing reticulate iris. The bulb quality has gone down, and the price has gone up, and in most gardens, they are a one-year wonder
