Allium senescens meise

  • Allium senescens meise
  • Allium senescens meise

' Meise', new selection from Wietse Mellema in Holland. Another late flowering form of Allium senescens, quite distinct, often not starting until mid August. Grows from small rhizome's, which produce thin grass like leaves, which unlike standard Alliums, do not die back as the flowers emerge. The flowering stems grow about 45 cm tall and the flower heads are about 5 cm in diameter, packed with tiny flowers, which bees and butterflies find very attractive. Likes a good quality, free draining soil, easy to grow and forms clumps very quickly.
