Allium nectaroscordum (siculum)

Unusual species that originates from eastern Europe. It's hanging flowers are a real magnet for Bee, Butterflies and other insects. Starts flowering in late May, heights vary between 60-100 cm, the flowers form shuttlecock like seedheads, which can be dried for Winter arrangements.

Fritillaria persica ''Ivory Bells''

Produces large, 80 - 90 cm tall spikes of Lime Green flowers from early May onwards. Plant the bulbs 10 cm deep, likes full sun and a well drained soil, no good in clay.

Fritillaria meleagris

Snakes head Fritallaria, used to be a common site in fields by a river close to our Nursery, but sadly no longer, because of the introduction of Cattle. Perfect for naturalising in Grassland, grows best in soils that don't totally dry out. Flowers in May, height 20 -30 cm.

Dwarf Iris add a touch of colour to the Garden from Late February through to mid March, a time when not much else is flowering. They are hardy but like a well drained soil and dry in Summer. Sheila Ann Germaney was bred by Mr. Brian Germaney, over the years it has proved to be a very reliable garden plant. Height 10 cm.

A hybrid between I. histrioides and I. winogradowii. creamy white flowers overlaid with pale blue and yellow. Dwarf Iris add a touch of colour to a Garden from Late February through to mid March, a time when not much else is flowering. Narcissus lobularis

A species that has proved over many years to be a good garden plant. Superb for creating a naturalistic effect, in either open woodland, or wild grassy meadows. Can be slightly more erratic in flowering when compared to modern hybrids.

Seed Raised bulbs of the true species. Tall, strong stems from 100-150 cm tall, bell shaped rosy pink flowers that hang down, produced from late May onwards. This species makes very few offsets and seedlings take 6-7 years to reach flowering size. Likes a well drained soil and a sunny site.

Grows from small rhizome's, which produce thin grass like leaves, which unlike standard Alliums, do not die back as the flowers emerge. The flowering stems grow about 45 cm tall and the flower heads are about 5 cm in diameter, packed with tiny flowers, which bees and butterflies find very attractive. Likes a good quality, free draining soil, easy to grow and forms clumps very quickly.

' Lisa Blue', a selection from Allium senescens montanum, named because of it's stunning grey/blue foliage, which emerges in early Spring and stays until well after the flowers have finished, worth growing just for the leaves, but also produces flowering stems from late July onwards. A. Schoenoprasum commonly known as 'Chives'. 'Forescate', stunning deep pink flowers. The main picture shows what the bulbs grow like, in the first season. The thin leaves appear in early Spring and are perfect for using in Salads. In Summer the plants start flowering, they are also edible and make a great garnish, plus bees and butterflies find them irresistible. Grows from small bulbs that rapidly make large clumps, ideal for edging paths and borders, especially when you mix up the different colour forms.
