Parent to many modern hybrids, originates from China, small sized, downwards facing flowers, about 12 Cm's in diameter, newly planted bulbs tend to take a year or so to really get going, it is quite normal for them to produce quite weak stems in the first season, with only a few flowers, but when they get established they get much better, often reaching heights over 1.5 metres and they can have 20 or more flowers on a stem, which normally needs some form of supporting, flowers from early August onwards. Bulb size 20 cm +.
