  • Lilium candidum
  • Lilium candidum

Common name 'Madonna Lily', this lily used to be a common sight in English gardens nowadays it is rarely seen, to thrive it needs a very well drained alkaline soil, it's sweetly scented flowers, that are only about 10 Cm's in diameter come open from late May onwards, bulbs must be planted in the Autumn and unlike most Lilies they must be planted very shallow, we plant them in September, with the very top of the bulbs just showing above the soil, not easy to grow. Bulb size 24 cm +.
